Bala Cynwyd Meeting To Discuss Restrictions On Federal Government

State Rep. Pam DeLissio is hosting a bipartisan town hall that will discuss term, fiscal, and power restrictions on the federal government.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — A bipartisan discussion on increased restrictions for the federal government will be held in Bala Cynwyd later this month and the public is invited to attend.

State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio (D-Montgomery/Philadelphia) is hosting a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Lower Merion Synagogue in Bala Cynwyd that will focus on the Convention of States Project: a national effort to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution.

The project seeks to limit the federal government’s power and jurisdiction, propose amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress, among other goals.

John Poole, director of PA United to Amend, will speak in favor of holding this proposed convention, and Micah C. T. Sims, executive director of Common Cause Pennsylvania, will share the viewpoint of why it is not a good idea to proceed with such a convention.

"Whether you are in favor of or oppose the goals of the Convention of States Project, it’s worth hearing and participating in the discussion," DeLissio said. "We hope this month’s Town Hall conversation gives new perspective to those either unfamiliar with the project or those whose stances are unwavering.
