Kids Robotics Program Coming To Main Line Library

The free program will help kids get familiar with robots, drones, coding, and more.

A lot of kids are interested in robots and computers and all the cool, cutting edge technology. But those topics are complex and can be difficult to break into. Luckily, the a library on the Main Line is hosting an event that will help kids get familiar with the ever growing tech world.

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at the Ardmore Free Library, the Philadelphia-based robotics company LocoRobo for will be at the library for a night of coding, robotics and drones.

Attendees will learn about robots in the real-world, sensor technology, locomotion, how drones fly, and coding robot behaviors.

The night will begin with a presentation on robotics followed by interactive robotics session and drone science lesson where kids can fly the drone. Attendees will also have a chance to code the lights, motion and sounds of the drone, as well as draw shapes with the robots and even create songs.

The event is for kids 9 through 13. Children must be accompanies by a parent or guardian to attend.

Attendees are asked to bring their own laptops or iPAD/iPhone for connecting to the robots.

Also, attendees can get information on LocoRobo’s 2017 Main Line Summer Camp, "Modern Robotics," taking place at the Haverford School July 31 through Aug. 4.
