Learn To Spot, Prevent Child Sex Abuse At Main Line Event

A crime victims' advocacy group is hosting a free training program that will help adults prevent, recognize, and react to child sex abuse.

MAIN LINE, PA — A Main Line municipality is hosting a special training event in February evening that aims to end child sex abuse.

The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County is leading the "Stewards of Children" training from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Malvern Borough offices.

"Stewards of Children" is a training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react to child sex abuse.

One in 10 children will suffer from sex abuse before 18 years old and 90 percent of them know their abuser, according to the center.

The program is the only nationally distributed, evidence-informed program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors, the center said.

Survivors of child sex abuse have higher risks of developing depression, PTSD, substance abuse, and more, according to the center.

This training workshop is free and open to the public.
