Local Children's Musician wins top award with family endeavor

Children's musician and performer Mama Mac was just announced Grand Prize winner in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest

BALA CYNWYD, PA March 3, 2019 – Local children’s performer Mama Mac has been named Grand Prize Winner in the Children’s category for the 2018 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song “BFF (Best Friends Forever)” which features her 13 year old daughter on vocals.

Each year, thousands of songwriters from around the world enter the contest and 12 grand prize winners are chosen, one for each category. Some of this year’s notable judges include George Clinton, Bob Weir, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, and Natasha Bedingfield.

The song is a family endeavor – written by Bala Cynwyd resident Amy Elkins aka Mama Mac, it features her 13 year-old daughter aka Lila Knight on vocals (www.LilaKnight.com). Her husband Mike Elkins also directed and produced a music video that stars Lila and members of her dance team from First Position Dance Arts in Ardmore, PA.
