Lower Merion to Conduct Impaired Driving Checkpoints
There will be impaired driving checkpoints combined with roving patrols, police said.
Lower Merion Township plans to conduct impaired driving checkpoints this weekend.
According to the township:
From Friday, March 13th through Tuesday, March 17th, 2015, Lower Merion Township Police will conduct Impaired Driving Checkpoints combined with Roving Patrols in the Township. This initiative is in partnership with a national impaired driving crackdown featuring intensified, highly visible enforcement activities using the tagline “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”

A sobriety checkpoint is a highly visible, systematic method for stopping vehicles at a selected location to determine whether motorists are operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
The sobriety checkpoint is being funded by a PennDOT grant and is one of many tools utilized to increase public safety through increased awareness created by high profile enforcement.
