Lower Merion Schools to Close Sept. 25 For Papal Visit
With the Pope staying nearby and roads closed, district will have no school Friday and two-hour delay Monday the weekend of Francis' visit
The Lower Merion School District will close its schools on Friday, Sept. 25 due to the visit to the Philadelphia area of Pope Francis, and a two-hour delay is place for Monday, Sept. 28. The closings were announced in a tweet by the district Monday night:An email to that effect was also sent to district parents on Monday, according to multiple social media posts.
The Pope will be staying at St Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, which is just over a mile away from Penn Wynne Elementary, on the 26th.
Philadelphia’s Catholic schools will be closed from Sept. 23-25, the dates of the World Meeting of Families.
