Narberth Woman Renown For Kindness Dies At 60

Rosie Yoshida worked in several nursing homes, where her natural kindness and love of others shined daily.

NARBERTH, PA -- Rose Mary “Rosie” Yoshida, age 60, died on April 15, 2016 after a prolonged illness.

Born in Philadelphia on August 5, 1955 to the late Dr. Y. Vincent Yoshida and Marie Conrad Yoshida, Rosie grew up in Ardmore where she attended St. Colman’s grade school, Lower Merion High School and Montgomery County Community College.

Before she became ill, Rosie worked in several nursing homes including the convalescent home of the Mercy Sisters at Mc Auley Convent where her natural kindness and love of others shined daily. Rosie was also a long time volunteer at St. Margaret’s School and was active with the Narberth Fourth of July Committee and the Girl Scouts.

Her last three years were spent at the Silver Stream Nursing Home where she received kind and loving care from the devoted staff and befriended staff and residents alike. Despite being wheelchair bound, she helped deliver the daily mail to residents and served on committees there.

She is survived by her devoted daughter Kristan McMeekin, her sisters Marie Echelmeyer (Rick), Theresa Sherwin (William K.), Anna Prebis (James) and her brothers John (Deborah) and William (Isabel) and by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family and friends are invited to her Viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 AM Thursday April 21st, St. Margaret’s Church, 208 N. Narberth Avenue, Narberth. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment at St.Christopher’s Church, Gladwyne.
