- Do you love art, but find you are incapable of telling the difference between abstract impressionism and classical realism, cubism from constructivism or Bauhaus from baroque? Tonight, the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts begins a four-week workshop, "Art Appreciation for Adults: Demystifying Art.” The program runs four consecutive Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. The fee is $75.
- The last of the Summer Classic Film Series at the Banko in the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks is East of Eden—the first of only three feature films that made James Dean one of the most iconic stars in Hollywood history. He was posthumously nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in the 1955 movie based on John Steinbeck’s novel. The movie starts at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $10, less for students, seniors and ArtsQuest members.
- Animatronic dinosaurs are the biggest stars of Jurassic Park, which is the free “movie in the park” at Friendship Park at E. North and Penn streets at dusk. It’s hard to believe that the science fiction classic directed by Steven Spielberg is 20 years old.
