BeCaHi Softball Team is District 11, AAA Champion

Golden Hawks shut out Palmerton 9-0, while Liberty falls short in its Class 4A title quest, losing 3-0 to Northampton.

 

The Bethlehem Catholic High School girls’ softball team won its seventh District 11, Class AAA title since 1999 on Thursday by shutting out Palmerton 9-0 at Patriots Park in Allentown.

But Liberty High School’s run ended with a 3-0 loss to Northampton in the District 11, Class 4A championship game, which was played after Bethlehem Catholic’s game at Patriots Park.

Pitcher Joelle Morey led the way for the victorious Golden Hawks by going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while striking out seven in her second post-season shutout in two days, according to The Express Times.

Coach Rich Mazza told The Morning Call that Emmaus coach John Eyer had provided his team with plenty of motivation when he said he thought Northampton was the best team in the Lehigh Valley Conference after the Hawks defeated Eyer’s Green Hornets in the conference championship game.

The Golden Hawks move on to the PIAA state tournament and will play again in a first-round game on Monday in Allentown, the Call’s Groller’s Corner blog reported.
