Bethlehem Woman Allegedly Cuts Husband's Dreadlocks During Fight Over Credit Card

A 29-year-old woman has been charged with simple assault after an argument with her husband.

A Bethlehem woman ripped out some of her husband’s dreadlocks while the couple argued over a credit card on Thursday morning, police said.

Mary S. Cooper, 29, and Michael T. Cooper were arguing over the whereabouts of his credit card, according to The Morning Call. Michael Cooper demanded Mary Cooper return his credit card, but she said she did not have it. The couple then got into an argument at their home in the 1000 block of Liberty Court on Thursday morning, the newspaper said.

Michael Cooper attempted to leave the home after the argument when Mary Cooper grabbed his dreadlocks and pulled them out of his head, according to The Express-Times. Mary Cooper then allegedly got a knife and a pair of scissors from the kitchen and began cutting his dreadlocks and poking him with the two, The Express-Times said.

Michael Cooper said he punched his wife to get away from her after she began cutting his hair and poking him, LehighValleyLive.com said.

Mary Cooper was charged with one count of simple assault and released on $3,500 unsecured bail.
