PA Mother Charged With Homicide After Baby Found In Paint Can
A Pennsylvania woman has been arrested after her baby was found dead in a paint can in the basement, authorities said.

ALLENTOWN, PA — An Allentown woman and mother of five has been arrested after authorities said her baby was found dead inside a paint can.
Ashley Carabello 30, faces charges of criminal homicide in connection with the death, which occurred in Oct. 2017, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said during a press conference Wednesday.
The discovery was made and charges filed this week.

Carabello went to the hospital for heavy vaginal bleeding and had to undergo surgery in 2017, the DA said.
While performing surgery, doctors discovered injuries consistent with the baby being ripped out.

After investigating, authorities determined that the baby was born alive, and died from either blood loss, hypothermia, related causes, or some combination.
The baby was found in a paint can inside a backpack in the basement of Carabello's home.
Carabello is being held without bail in Lehigh County Jail. A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
