Runner's World To Host Half Marathon and Fitness Festival

The weekend-long celebration at ArtsQuest Center will feature kids' runs, a dog run, longer road races, and live music.

Runner’s World is hopsting a Half Marathon & Running Festival from October 17-19, 2014.

A weekend-long celebration of running at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA, the festival features kids’ runs, a dog run, 5-K, 10-K, and half marathon races, as well as running-related seminars, live music and a health and fitness expo.

The 2013 event was awarded Gold Certification from the Council of Responsible Sport for its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The inaugural event earned Silver status in 2012.

New this year is the featured Saturday evening entertainment: Comedian Liz Miele, a veteran of New York City and Washington, D.C. comedy clubs as well as 12 Marine Corps Marathons. Miele will also be running the Hat Trick. Tickets are $5 for the 6 p.m. comedy show, but are free with the purchase of the 7:30 p.m. pasta dinner.

Other seminar highlights include: Sean MacMillen, who served three tours in Afghanistan, speaking on How Running Helped Save a Soldier from Depression, Substance Abuse, and PTSD, and an all-female panel discussing Women’s Running: Why It’s Different for Us.
