South Side Businesses Broke Liquor Laws: Police

Two South Bethlehem businesses—a pizza shop and a bar—are accused of violating state liquor control laws and are facing legal action, according to a release from the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

The Happy Tap, a bar at 601-603 E. Fourth St., allegedly served an alcoholic beverage to an 18-year-old customer on June 13, police said.

Lehigh Pizza at 13 W. Third St. allegedly sold more than 192 ounces of “malt or brewed beverages … in a single sale to one person for consumption off premises” on May 29, police said.

In both cases, the charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who can impose fines of between $50 and $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses, police said.

The judge also has the power to suspend or revoke the license depending on the severity of the charge or mandate that the licensee attend training.
