NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PA — A Pennsylvania State Trooper shot and killed a man after a confrontation in Northampton County on Sunday, authorities confirmed.
According to information from the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. along the 900 block of Berger Road in Williams Township.
A Trooper from the Troop M Belfast barracks was dispatched to the location for a 911 call that was related to a "disturbance" in the area, police said. PennLive, citing local sources, said a domestic violence incident prompted the police response.

Upon arrival, the Trooper met with a 55-year-old man outside the residence. A "confrontation" occurred, and the Trooper fired two rounds from a department-issued Sig Sauer P227 handgun, State Police said.
The shots killed the man, police confirmed.

The Trooper has not been identified. Authorities have not said if the man, who has also not been identified, was armed at the time of the shooting.
The shooting is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Major Case Team and detectives from the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office. Traffic was detoured in the area during the investigation.
