Sunday: Christian Rock, 60s Music at Musikfest

The Weather: Mostly sunny with a high of 78 degrees and a northwest breeze. The evening low is forecast to drop into the 50s.

The Headliners: It’s a day of Christian rock at the Sands Steel Stage with Skillet, We As Human, Decyfer Down and Thousand Foot Krutch. Show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets, $39 and $29.

The Highlight: Its The Summer of Love at Plaza Tropical as a lineup of bands celebrate the music of the 1960s. Me & My Uncle pay tribute to the Grateful Dead at 2:30; Stone Flower pays tribute to Santana at 4; The Large Flower Heads play 60s rock and pop at 6; and The Craig Thatcher Band does a Jimi Hendrix tribute at 8:30.

Get You Some Church: A contemporary worship service will take place at Festplatz at 10 a.m. A tri-lingual Catholic Mass is scheduled at Plaza Tropical, also at 10 a.m.

For the Little Ones: Pirates are the craft theme at Banana Island. Rolie Polie Guacamole plays family friendly music at neighboring Plaza Tropical from noon to 2 p.m.

Mary Ellen’s Celtic Corner: The Irish Stars of the Parker School of Irish Dance step their way into your heart from noon to 1 p.m. at Volksplatz. They are immediately followed by OCEAN Celtic, an orchestral folk and Celtic band at 1:30. Then Burning Bridget Cleary follows them at 3 p.m.

The Best of the Free Platzes: Burning Bridget Cleary, fronted by a dynamic fiddling duo that sings in harmony also belong here. The Nouveaux Honkies, who play at the Musikfest Café at 5:30 merit a mention just based on their name. Southern Culture on the Skids brings its good-time take on southern music to Volksplatz at 9. Always a crowd pleaser, The Red Elvises go on stage at Americaplatz at 9.
