On the eve of the first day of the 30th Musikfest, it is interesting to note that on this day 32 years ago, MTV—Music Television—debuted on cable television. Do you know the first music video MTV played?

- Bring the umbrellas with you today. After several days of gorgeous weather, the forecast calls for showers and the possibility of strong thunderstorms. The National Weather Service says there is a 90 percent chance of rain with up to an inch possible. But don’t fret, ‘festers. The sunshine and pleasant weather is expected to return for the opening weekend of Musikfest.
- Despite the forecast, it will be Children’s Beach Day at the Bethlehem Farmers Market at Campus Square. Free face painting and sand art necklaces as long as supplies last. The day will also feature live music from George Baier from noon to 2 p.m.
- The Bethlehem Area Public Library hosts its own Comic Con from 1 to 3 p.m. Explore popular comics and franchise favorites through activities, panels, and challenges. Meet other fans and win prizes. But this convention is for teens only—grades 7 through 12.
- Tommy Pope is the featured standup comic at Two Laugh Minimum the regular comedy showcase at the Banko in the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. Pope is currently featured at the Helium Comedy Club, where he won the title of “Philly’s Phunniest in 2011. In 2012, he was named one of the prestigious New Faces in Montreal's Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. Tickets are $10, less for seniors, students and ArtsQuest members. The show starts at 8 p.m.
