The Weather: Isolated and scattered showers and thunderstorms, with a forecast high of about 80 degrees. The chance of rain increases from 30 to 40 percent in the evening, as the temperature falls into the 60s.

The Headliners: George Thorogood & The Destroyers are known for their gritty hits like “Bad to the Bone” and covers of blues classics, such as John Lee Hooker’s “House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.” Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, purveyors of what can best be described as “New Jersey Soul.” Show starts at 7 p.m. at the Sands Steel Stage. Tickets are $44 and $34.

The Other Highlight: Wear your cowboy boots and get ready to do some line dancing on the floor at Festplatz. It’s country music day. Brian Clayton & The Green River Band kick things off at 2:30. Crazy Hearts follows at 5. The Tommy Guns Band starts at 8 and plays ‘til the cows come home—or 11, whichever comes first.

For the Little Ones: The kids can have unlimited fun on all nine rides at Banana Island with a $15 pass from noon to 5 p.m. Superheroes are the craft theme. We Kids Rock play family friendly music at neighboring Plaza Tropical from noon to 2 p.m.

Mary Ellen’s Celtic Corner: What would a band from New York named The Mickey Finns play? Whiskey-soaked, Celtic-flavored, “jig punk,” according to the Musikfest program book. They hit the Volksplatz stage at 7 p.m.

The Classical Musikfest: The Abaca String Band from New York plays at 5 p.m. at Central Moravian Church. Andrea Wittchen plays classical harp at the Moravian Church Old Chapel at 7:30 p.m.

The Best of the Free Platzes: How can you not be curious about a band named Bong Hits for Jesus? The Musikfest program says they are Philly’s number one party band. Judge for yourself when they play the Main Street stage at 8:30. Allentown’s Zen for Primates (Liederplatz at 9 p.m.) has developed a loyal local following playing what they call “jazz, in a carnival-like, psychodrama kind of way.” Our top recommendation for the night is Hadden Sayers, a virtuoso guitar slinger in the great Texas blues tradition. When the main stage show is over, George Thorogood fans who walk a little east to Americaplatz for the 9 p.m. show won’t be disappointed.
