Canon-McMillan School Board Could Hire Head Football Coach Next Week
The board recessed its regular meeting to April 23—when directors could vote to fill the position.

Canon-McMillan School directors could hire a new varsity head football coach as soon as next week.
Directors on Monday recessed their regular monthly meeting to 3 p.m. April 23 to possibly hire one of three new candidates for the coaching spot. The meeting will be held in the district administration building. It will be open to the public.
The school board had scheduled interviews with 11 applicants, and interviewed eight of those in mid-March.

Since then, though, the job description was reposted, with a note that former candidates need not reapply. Three people have since applied for the job.
At the direction of the board, the head varsity coaching position will be a stand-alone one—with no promise of a teaching or other job associated with it.

"This is obviously an issue of great concern to our community," Director Joe Zupanic said at the meeting Monday. "Hopefully, (this) process will result in us hiring the right man for the job."
