Canon-McMillan School Board Hires New Staff, Accepts Resignations

There will be several new faces at Canon-McMillan School District when the academic year begins!

The Canon-McMillan School Board met for a special voting meeting Monday, and approved a series of personnel moves.

School directors voted to accept the resignations of:

  • Joanna Conti from her position as a high school art teacher
  • Crystal Miles from her position as an autistic classroom teacher at South Central Elementary
  • Janice Yarkosky from her position as a paraeducator at Canonsburg Middle School. The resignation, which is for the purpose of retirement, will become effective at the end of the day on Sept. 30. Yarkosky worked for the district for 19 years.
The board hired the following:
  • Rachel Berteotti as an English teacher the Canon-McMillan High School
  • Brandon Charriere as a social studies teachers at Canon-McMillan High School
  • Zachary Maisner as a technology education teacher at Canon-McMillan High School
  • Holly Leary, as a first-semester substitute at the Canonsburg Middle School for a teacher on leave
The board also changed the status from temporary to professional for the following:
  • Jamie Dunn
  • janet Gilbert
  • Erin Stankus
  • Robert Stone
  • Lauren Paddick
  • Jessica Gilbert
  • Jennifer Frank
  • Melissa Nelson
  • Kristy Chavez
  • Heather Merry
  • Natalie Jaskowski
The board also voted to extend Patty Haney's position as a temporary secretary at North Strabane Intermediate through Aug. 21, 2013.
