Canonsburg Man Jailed After Allegedly Kicking Down Bedroom Door and Assaulting Man

Canonsburg police charged a borough man with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness following an incident in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday.

Police said they were summoned to a fight reported at 312 N. Central Ave.

When officers arrived, they heard two men yelling "and a lot of commotion in the residence," according to the criminal complaint.

Police said the victim was William Yarbrough, was restraining Corwin Riedel, 33, of Canonsburg, in the stairwell.

"Yarbrough stated he was inside his bedroom with his girlfriend, the door was secured and Riedel kicked the door in and began to assault him," the criminal complaint indicates. "Yarbrough was able to free himself and they wrestled into the hallway."

Police said the incident stemmed from Yarbrough residing at the residence while he was incarcerated.

Officers said that Riedel was being confrontational and cursing in the front yard of the residence—and that he "repeatedly lunged" at Yarbrough.

While police said Riedel was made aware of this eviction options, officers said he "waited until police left the residence and then attacked Yarbrough," who stated that he was struck several times in the face.

Riedel was arraigned before district Judge David Mark and remanded to the Washington County Jail after failing to post a $5,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear before Mark for a preliminary hearing 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
