Cash Prizes Offered to Best July 4 Parade Chair Design

Planning on planting your parade chair on Pike Street? Consider fancying it up for a chance to win a cash prize!

Consider the gauntlet thrown.

The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce this year is sponsoring the Parade of Chairs contest—and is challenging local folks planning on attending the borough's Independence Day parade to dress up their chairs.

There will be two cash prizes awarded—one for the most original chair, and the other for the most patriotic chair.

The entries ranged greatly last year, with some chairs decked out with all things red, white and blue, while others were fancied up with flowers and other decorations.

The GCCC indicated that judging will begin at 5 p.m. July 3.

And as a gentle reminder: By order of Canonsburg Council, no chairs will be permitted to be placed on Pike Street prior to July 2. The new rule is that chairs are allowed to be placed along the parade route no sooner than 48 hours prior to the start of the parade.
