Cecil Township Searching for Public Works Director
Supervisors also voted to purchase a new truck for the department.

Cecil Township supervisors on Monday voted down a motion to advertise for a full-time public works director, instead deciding to contact applicants who expressed interest in an assistant manager/public works position.
Supervisor Elizabeth Cowden on Monday wanted to scrap those applicants and readvertise the position after stripping out the job duties that were not public works-related.
But fellow supervisors shot that idea down by a vote of 4-1, instead instructing township Manager Don Gennuso to contact the top three qualified candidates to see if they would still be interested in the position if the assistant manager duties were eliminated.
Several supervisors said the township had already garnered resumes of qualified candidates, and said they didn't want to waste taxpayer dollars on readvertising.
In related business, supervisors also approved the purchase of a truck for the public works department.
Gennuso said the truck would allow the crew clear roads more efficiently during inclement weather.
The cost will be paid in four yearly installments of $45,000.
The money will come from the road machinery account.
