The primary election was a difficult one for Cecil Township Judge of Elections Linda Morgan and her crew.
She told Cecil Township supervisors at their meeting last week that moving the polling place from the Iceoplex in Southpointe to the new Tandem Connection building in Hendersonville was ill-advised.
Morgan went through a laundry list of issues—from the lack of air conditioning, to the lack of overhead lighting, to the fact she had to duct tape steps because she thought someone would fall on them.
It was so bad, she said, that her poll workers said they would quit if the November general election had them sitting in the same location.
Morgan said she spoke with county Department of Elections Director Larry Spahr, who she said assured her that the polling location would be moved back to the Iceoplex in the fall.
But she also expressed frustration for why the polling location was moved in the first place. Morgan said that Spahr told her the move was at the behest of one of the supervisors, who he said complained about the length of the drive for voters.
Supervisor Frank Ludwin said he was the one who made the phone call.
Morgan and others said they believed that a recommendation of that sort to Spahr should have been a consensus—not from one supervisor.
