Get Your Run On: 5 5Ks Happening This August

Avid runner? Just starting out? Either way, there are plenty of ways to challenge yourself this summer with local 5K races.
Here are five 5K races happening in and around Patch neighborhoods in August. Click the highlighted links for more information:
Flying Monkey 5K: Proceeds from this 5K will benefit theUniversity of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. The 5K is on Aug. 17 through Southpointe Business Park in Cecil Township.Registration info is available on the Flying Monkey website. Brookline Breeze: This 32nd annual 5K run/walk is in the South Pittsburgh neighborhood of Brookline. The Breeze is Saturday, Aug. 10 on Brookline Boulevard. Remember, the Brookline Breeze 5K and the Autumn Breezefest are on two different days this year.
Whitehall Borough 5K Race: This 5K run, one-mile walk is Aug. 24 and is part of the Whitehall Community Day Celebration. Race registration information and a schedule of events are on the borough's website.
Run Around the Square: This event is a 5K run, 1.5 mile fun run, 1.5 mile walk, and is happening in the Regent Square neighborhood of Pittsburgh on Aug. 24. This 5K has been running for 31 years, and registration info is available on its website.
Cranberry Township Aquathlon and 5K Run: This dual event is also Aug. 24 and it's at North Boundary Park. This is a 5K run, 400 meter swim, 2.9K run. Need more info? Check out the website.
