Man Behind Southpointe Development Honored

The man "who had the vision for Southpointe" was honored last week as the 2013 recipient of the Southpointe CEO Association’s World Class CEO Award, according to the Observer-Reporter.

Rodney Piatt, 60, started Horizon Properties Group in 1997 and it's now one of the region's leading commercial real estate development companies.

Horizon was named the lead developer for Southpointe II by Washington County Authority in 2004 and has developed more than 4 million square feet of properties, including the Dick's Sporting Good headquarters.

Piatt is now focused on now the completion of Southpointe II’s Town Center project that will bring restaurants and retail to the development.
