Muse Man Being Charged With Careless Driving Following Crash

Cecil Township police are citing a Muse man with careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt—charges that stemmed from a one-vehicle crash that happened late Wednesday.

Police said Shawn P. Gallagher, 38, was driving north on Muse-Bishop Road when he reached for a cigarette and lost control of his SUV.

Police said Gallagher's vehicle left the right-side of the roadway and struck a mailbox at 430 Muse-Bishop Road. The vehicle continued through the yard, sheared a utility pole and came to rest on the passenger-side against a tree.

There were wires on the roadway, and both Verizon and Allegheny Power were notified.

First responders needed to extricate Gallagher from the vehicle.

Although Gallagher told police he was uninjured, he was transported by SouthBridge EMS to Canonsburg General Hospital.

Muse-Bishop Road was closed for a period of time after the 11:42 p.m. crash while first responders cleared the scene, according to police.
