New Teachers Hired at Canon-McMillan School District

The board also gave a raise to its director of business and finance, and approved a new girls club sport for the upcoming school year.

Canon-McMillan school directors this week made several personnel moves in advance of the 2013-14 academic year—accepting resignations and retirements as well as hiring several new teachers.

The board accepted the following resignations:

  • Colleen Patrick from her position as a second-grade teacher at First Street Elementary. Her resignation was effective at the end of the school year.
  • Emily Clawson from her position as a family and consumer sciences teacher at Canonsburg Middle School. Her resignation is effective June 24.
  • Brian Grimes from his position as bus driver. His resignation is for the purpose of retirement. His resignation is effective June 30.
Directors also hired the following professional personnel. All of the hires will begin their tenure at the district at the beginning of the upcoming school year:
  • Jack Smarslak as a business education teacher at Canon-McMillan High School.
  • Pamela Moniodes as a special education teacher at Canonsburg Middle School.
  • Dana Garver as a chemistry teacher at Canon-McMillan High School.
  • Lara Lattanzio-Antis as a health and physical education teacher at Canon-McMillan High School.
In addition, the school board also approved an extra-work stipend for Jacky Hardiman, who during the 2013-14 academic year will be responsible for Federal Title 1 coordination. The stipend is in the amount of $10,000.

Also, Director of Business and Finance Joni Mansmann was awarded a $12,000 salary increase. The bump will bring her salary to $108,910. The increase will be effective for the 2013-14 school year.

In other business, the board also voted to approve girls lacrosse as a club sport for the upcoming school year.
