North Strabane Home Damaged By Fire, First Responder Injured in Crash on Route to Scene
A Vista Hill Road home was damaged Thursday after a fire broke out on the second-floor.
North Strabane fire Chief Mark Grimm said it took crews from the township and Peters about 15 minutes to get the fire, which was contained to the second floor, under control.
The Houston Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.
While family members were home when the fire broke out just before 10:30 a.m., nobody was injured.
Grimm said the fire likely started in the bathroom on the second floor, where a plumber had been working earlier in the morning.
Grimm said it appeared as though a soldering iron or other tool had not been turned off, which may have caused the fire.
He said there was about $10,000 worth of damage. While fire damage was exclusive to the second floor, there was smoke and water damage throughout the home.
However, first responders indicated that a firefighter from North Strabane was injuries in a crash while responding to the call.
No further information was immediately available.
