North Strabane Police Charge Pittsburgh Man With Theft, Writing Bad Checks

A Pittsburgh man was jailed Friday after being arrested on theft and other charges.

North Strabane Township police charged Gary Boyd, 29, with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, bad checks and conspiracy—charges that were filed May 29, online court records show.

North Strabane police indicated that Boyd was one of three men accused of stealing checks from Meadowlands Gymnastics Training Center, making duplicates and cashing them, according to the Observer-Reporter newspaper.

Boyd was arraigned Friday night before district Judge David Mark and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $5,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear before district Judge Jay Weller at 9 a.m. June 24 for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
