Residents from both Canonsburg and North Strabane implored township supervisors Tuesday to reject a proposed residential development off Greenwood and Victoria drives.
North Strabane Township Supervisor Jeff Stanley made a motion to reject the proposal- which was met with applause from residents in attendance.
Supervisor Sonia Stopperich seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved.
It was rejected for myriad reasons, including frontage and setback issues.
Bove Development Corp. had proposed construction of Greenwood Village, which would consist of 233 multi-family dwellings situated on 62.4 acres.
Residents cited reasons such as public safety, mine subsidence, water runoff and aging infrastructure for their opposition.
Some of the same residents had also appeared before Canonsburg Council Monday to protest the development, which would have used Crawford as a secondary point of entry.
Residents said that street was too narrow to support traffic associated with the development.
