Pittsburgh Man to Stand Trial for Theft, Writing Bad Checks in North Strabane

A Pittsburgh man jailed earlier this month after being arrested on theft and other charges out of North Strabane will stand trial for the offenses, court records show.

Gary Boyd, 29, waived the charges to court Monday before district Judge Jay Weller.

North Strabane Township police had charged Boyd, 29, with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, bad checks and conspiracy—which were filed May 29, online court records show.

North Strabane police indicated that Boyd was one of three men accused of stealing checks from Meadowlands Gymnastics Training Center, making duplicates and cashing them, according to the Observer-Reporter newspaper.

While Boyd was initially jailed after district Judge David Mark arraigned him and set a $5,000 bond, he was later released after posting bail.
