Preliminary Hearing Set for Teen Charged With DUI
The 18-year-old reportedly had a .228 percent blood-alcohol content.

A preliminary hearing has been set for a Cecil teenager charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence as a minor—offenses that stem from when the man crashed his vehicle head-on into a tree last month.
Police said a blood draw taken at Canonsburg General Hospital after the April 13 crash showed that Alan David Hofrichter had a blood-alcohol content of .228 percent.
Charges of driving under the influence are pending against an 18-year-old Cecil Township man who crashed head on into a tree on Grange Road in Cecil Township Saturday night.

The night of the incident, police said they approached the man's vehicleto discover him unconscious and sitting in the driver's seat. Officers said they were able to rouse him after several attempts.
Asked for his identification, police said Hofrichter responded "very slowly."

Asked how much alcohol he had consumed, officer said the man said "a lot" and added, "I am (expletive deleted) up."
With assistance from first responders, Hofrichter was able to exit the vehicle through the passenger-side door.
He is scheduled to appear before district Judge Valarie Costanzo at 10:30 a.m. June 16.
