Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area.

At 5:26 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was detected near Burgettstown, and was moving northeast at 35 mph, the agency's website indicated.

The storm is capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging wings in excess of 60 mph.

"This is a dangerous storm," the website stated. "Move into a sturdy building and avoid windows."

The warning remains in effect until 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
