Comcast Launches Xfinity Voice Remote and Share App for X1 Customers in Chartiers Valley

Customers have new ways to interact with their TVs

Comcast’s Chartiers Valley customers with the X1 Entertainment Operating System have two exciting new ways to interact with their televisions.

Xfinity Remote With Voice Control

The new Xfinity remote with voice control allows customers to navigate tens of thousands of shows and movies on the X1 platform with their voice. Viewers can use it to search for networks, shows and movies; set DVR recordings; get recommendations; navigate Xfinity On Demand and more.

For instance, you can tell your remote “Watch ESPN” and it will change to that channel. You can say “Show me kids movies” and instantly browse Xfinity On Demand for the best flick to enjoy with the whole family. You can even ask “When do the Pirates play?” and find game times and channels for your favorite team.

Already, people are pressing the blue microphone button on the voice remote a few dozen times a day to say what they want to watch on the X1 platform. Users can even speak a notable movie quote into the remote, and X1 will bring up the movie it’s from. And as part of our sponsorship of Taylor Swift’s The 1989 World Tour, the singer interacts with you when you search for her and her videos with the voice remote. For instance, you can say, “Taylor Swift 22” and as the music video comes up, Taylor interjects, “I like this one too.” Or just sing “Shake it off” and she’ll respond “oh, I see what you did there.”

This device is also another example of Comcast’s commitment to making its products and services more accessible. The company recently launched the industry’s first “talking guide” for customers with a visual disability, and with the availability of this new remote, Comcast has become the only company to elegantly combine “voice in” and “voice out” in one entertainment experience.

The voice remote is available to all eligible X1 customers. New customers will get the remote during their installation and existing customers can either go to an Xfinity Store to pick one up for free or order online at xfinity.com/voiceremote (shipping & handling charges may apply).

Xfinity Share App

Xfinity X1 customers can also now live stream their favorite life moments directly to the television sets of friends and family over the Internet. Through Comcast’s new Xfinity Share app, customers can live stream or send photos and recorded videos to their TV or to the TV of another X1 customer.

With a few simple steps, you can stream your child’s baseball game, a graduation or just a beautiful sunset in real time to the biggest screen in the home. So now a grandmother in San Francisco can watch along on her TV at the exact moment her grandson in Chartiers Valley blows out his birthday candles. To use Xfinity Share, currently both the sender and receiver must be Xfinity Triple Play customers with X1 DVR capable set-top boxes.
