Denny's Sink Holes Are On Private Property, Scott Officials Say
Two sink holes opened in front of the restaurant following the July 10 thunderstorms that caused severe flooding in the area.
Not one, but two sink holes that opened in front of Denny's Restaurant on Greetree Road are on private property, according to the Scott Township Public Works Department.
The sink holes opened on July 10 after severe thunderstorms hit the area, causing massive flooding in some locations, and are currently roped off with caution tape.
On Tuesday, Bert Smelko of the township's public works department said the damage is on private property.
"I believe the state is handling that," Smelko said. "An inspector from the state was here the other day to look at it. I believe it's out of the township's hands."
One large hole is in the hillside in front of the restaurant that faces Greentree Road. The other is close to the road, at the corner of Greentree and Swallow Hill roads.
The sink holes are not affecting the flow of traffic through the area.
