Giving Doesn't Take a Vacation at The Meadows

Opportunities for Guests and Employees to Give Back

As the holiday season approaches, The Meadows Casino today announced a series of charitable events and initiatives to support local veterans, children and families over the next two months.

On November 11, The Meadows is providing a free Veterans Day buffet at The Carvery for all United States active duty members and military veterans from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm. The event will be on a first-come, first-served basis and recipients must present a military ID and be 21 years of age. The Meadows also has premier parking spaces reserved year-round for any vehicle with a Purple Heart license plate.

The Meadows employees will again step up for its annual food drive for the Greater Washington County Food Bank during the week of November 9. The campaign will accumulate non-perishable food, which will be distributed to local families.

Employees will also participate in the annual Treasures for Children program, which is organized by The Salvation Army and provides Christmas gifts for children throughout the area. Employees will adopt tags with names and ages from a Christmas tree in the employee dining room and will place the unwrapped gifts under the tree to be distributed in mid-December.

This year will also include the Salvation Army Red Kettle program. Volunteers will collect donations at the valet entrance on Saturdays from Thanksgiving until Christmas from 12:00 Noon – 8:00 p.m.

A new initiative for this year is Helping Hands program in cooperation with Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughn. Donations for gifts will be accepted from November 2 through December 7 and be provided to children affiliated with Washington County’s Children & Youth Services.

Finally, The Meadows will also continue the tradition of supporting the Toys for Tots campaign in cooperation with the Marine Corps Reserve of Washington County. New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off in designated boxes located throughout The Meadows and will be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local community.

“While we never lose sight of giving back, we make an extra effort to provide donations during the holiday season,” said Sean Sullivan, vice president and general manager of The Meadows Casino. “Our guests and employees have a long history of helping those in need. We are honored to come along side of them as a committed member of this community.”
