$2,600 Sewer Fund Theft Case Will Go to Trial

A former Wilson borough clerk accused of stealing at least $2,600 in community sewer funds has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Lisa Marie Guth, 48, of Williams Township has thus acknowledged that enough evidence exists to bring her criminal case to trial. Guth has been cooperating with the investigation, according to The Express Times.

According to court records, police began investigating in June when a resident reported a discrepancy with a bill. When police looked closer, they found other billing discrepancies.

Police say Guth admitted during an interview to taking money that residents had paid to the borough. Court records say Guth deposited the money, which came in the form of cash payments, in her own accounts and used it for everyday purchases. 

She is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, and theft by deception and remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
