Greater Valley YMCA Easton/Phillipsburg Branch Plans Community Advocacy Event

The Greater Valley YMCA announces it will host local, state and federal elected officials at its Easton/Phillipsburg facility to celebrate the 5th annual YMCA Advocacy Week in Pennsylvania.

YMCA Advocacy Week is intended to showcase the many ways the Y benefits the local community through programs and services under the three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The Y is a powerful ally and advocate for local communities with its experience in offering high quality programs and services and the maintenance of strong community relationships. The Y has the ability to organize grassroots efforts and influence public policy around a wide range of social issues, such as child welfare and public health.

Elected officials from Easton and Phillipsburg will join Greater Valley YMCA Easton/Phillipsburg branch YMCA staff and volunteers on Thursday, August 9, at 1225 W. Lafayette St., Easton, PA, for a Community Impact Tour. After refreshments, and introductions, elected officials will tour the Easton/Phillipsburg branch, then be transported to the Forks Education Center to read to children and meet the early learning staff. After touring the early learning center, elected officials will be transported to the pool to learn more about the Y’s safety around water initiative and the Y’s collaboration with the Easton Area School District to serve summer meals. The community is invited to attend to meet their elected officials and see all that the Y has to offer.
