One Direction Documentary Edited By Easton Filmmaker

Local filmmaker and 'Movies at the Mill' organizer adds music documentary to his resume.

If you go (or your kids drag you to) the new documentary about the pop group One Direction this Friday, you might catch an Easton man's name in the credits.

Gershon Hinkson worked as a first assistant editor on One Direction: This Is Us, which comes to theaters Friday.

As we wrote in our "Movies Friday" feature a few weeks ago: "Fans will see One Direction like they’ve never seen them before -- back in their hometowns, visiting with their moms, and returning to the lives they had before they became one of the biggest musical acts in the world."

Hinkson has also done editing on movies such as the Coen brothers' version of True Grit, Spider-Man 2, and Jennifer's Body, as well as the HBO mini-series The Corner.

He's also directed two short films. One of them, The Turtle and the Nightingale, appeared on HBO last year.

In Easton, he's focused on bringing the works of other filmmakers into to the community with the annual Movies at the Mill film festival. This year's installment will include a seminar for filmmakers, featuring director Morgan Spurlock.

Spurlock is best known for his McDonald's documentary Supersize Me, but he's directed a number of other works, including the One Direction documentary.
