Borough Council Approves Emmaus Arts Commission Show

Emmaus Borough Council on Monday voted to allow the Emmaus Arts Commission and the East Penn Painters Guild to hold an arts show in borough hall Saturday.

Emmaus Borough Council on Monday night said "yes" to a last-minute request by the Emmaus Arts Commission to use council chambers and various other parts of borough hall for an Arts Show on Saturday night.

The exhibit, showcasing the work of the East Penn Painters Guild, will run from 6:15 to 9 p.m., piggybacking on the other happenings in the borough related to the Emmaus "Old-Fashioned Christmas."

The borough Christmas Tree Lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

Councilman Brent Labenberg asked if any art would be sold during the show, but he was reassured by colleague and EAC member Mike Waddell that no money would be changing hands in borough hall.

Instead, Waddell said, the artists would be placing business cards on the paintings and if a visitor would be interested in purchasing a particular piece, the actual transaction would take place outside of the art show venue.

In addition to council chambers, the EAC will be using the community room and the gallery hallway that night.

Cookies and cider will be provided to arts show guests.
