Two weeks ago, you received your property tax bill from the Borough of Emmaus. Unfortunately, due to a clerical error the tax bills were incorrect. Two numbers of the Borough’s millage rate were transposed which resulted in taxes being overstated by approximately 1 half of 1 percent which is about $5.00. There was no increase in the tax rate for this year. Once the mistake was discovered, the tax collector worked quickly with the Borough to send out the correct tax bills. Within the next week, you should receive an updated property tax bill, printed on white paper, with the correct amount due. If you have already paid your property taxes using the original amount due, you will be issued a refund for the difference. If you have not already paid your property taxes, please discard the green bill and use the corrected white bill for payment. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
