Discover Lehigh Valley Begins Hunt For Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest

Discover Lehigh Valley, the area’s designated marketing organization, and the nonprofit ArtsQuest are giving Lehigh Valley residents the chance to be Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest in a special online contest culminating at Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling on October 4 in Bethlehem.

Interested participants can sign up online through midnight on September 21 at www.DiscoverLehighValley.com/Oktoberfest2014, where they will be asked to upload a photo and fill out a few questions. On September 22, ten participants for both Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest will be featured at the same link, with online voting determining the winner.

The top three vote getters for Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest will be invited to participate in the official Oktoberfest Keg Tap featuring D.G. Yuengling & Son President Dick Yuengling on October 4. During the ceremony, a Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest will be crowned.

Each winner will receive a $100 ArtsQuest gift card, Lehigh Valley Ale Trail and ArtsQuest swag, and the unbelievable bragging rights of being the center of attention for the event, which runs October 3 - 5 and 10 - 12 on SteelStacks campus in Bethlehem.

Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling will feature a variety of live music, delicious German food, fun & games and more. Among the highlights will be the popular dachshund races Oct. 5 and 12, the Celebrity Skills Challenge Oct. 11, new craft brewers’ village and beer tasting sessions (ticket required) presented by the Brewers of Pennsylvania, and a free Penn State-Michigan football game tailgate and viewing party on Oct. 11. This year’s Oktoberfest celebration will be free for the first time in the event’s history thanks to the support of its presenting sponsor, D.G. Yuengling & Son.
