East Penn School District: Emmaus High School Students Participate In PA State History Day Competition

The EHS History Day club is proud to announce that thirteen of its members competed last week in the Pennsylvania State History Day competition! Please allow us to congratulate the following students on a job well done and honor their academic and competitive achievements!

Here is a list of all the EHS PA State Competitors:

Exhibit Categories:

• – “The Ultimate First Impression”
• – “The Wounded Knee Occupation: How Media turned a Local Conflict into a Spectacle”
• – “The Silk Roads”

Historical Paper Category

• – “The Role of Media in the Vietnam War”

Documentary Categories:

• – “Follow the Drinking Gourd: Communicating about the Experience of Slavery through Music”
• – “The Hollywood Ten: Fanning the Flame of Anti-Communism to Stifle Free Speech”
• – “The Nazi Regime: How Controlled Communication led to a lack of Understanding”

EHS Awards:

5th place senior individual performance – Pandora Schoen5th place group exhibit – Jack Freemont and Samantha Loeper3rd place group documentary – Sadie Kennedy and Clara Kennedy 3rd place group exhibit – Kyla Fanning, Cameron Fanning, and Heather Fabritze

A special congratulations goes out to Nadia Anthony and Julia McDonnell who took home FIRST PLACE for their documentary, “Follow the Drinking Gourd: Communicating about the Experience of Slavery through Music.” They will now go on to compete in the National Competition which will be held virtually in June of 2021!
