Elderly Allentown Man Shoots Wife, Commits Suicide

An 92-year-old man shot his wife and then killed himself in their Allentown home early Friday morning.

Izak Waide was killed in the attempted murder-suicide, but his wife, identified as Malka Waide, survived and is being treated in a local hospital, according to The Morning Call. Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Malka Waide’s condition is promising. The shooting occurred at 6:30 a.m.

Neighbors said that Malka Waide had been increasingly suffering from Alzheimer’s recently and knew her health was deteriorating because she and her husband stopped going on walks together, The Morning Call reports.

Authorities said they would have more information at a later time.
