Knife-Wielding Man Shot By Cops in Warren County, Prosecutor Says
Shooting under investigation after man in Phillipsburg would not comply with officers' commands, authorities report.

Three police officers have been placed on administrative leave after shooting an armed man during a confrontation Monday morning in Phillipsburg, Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke announced.
Police were called to a building on South Main Street just before 9:30 a.m. for a report of an individual who was sending threatening messages to another person, Burke said.
When officers arrived, they found the individual – whose name is not being released until next of kin is notified – on the first floor of the structure wielding a knife in a threatening manner and refusing to come outside, Burke said.

During a confrontation, the man refused to comply with officers’ commands to drop the knife, Burke said, and was subsequently shot by police.
Burke would not say where on the body the man was shot or how many bullets were fired.

The man was given medical treatment and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania where he is receiving further treatment.
One officer was injured in the confrontation, Burke said, and was transported to St. Luke’s Warren Hospital. He was treated and released.
All three officers on scene have been placed on administrative leave until further notice while the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office investigates the shooting, Burke said.
