Man Rushes to Scene of Easton Car Accident, Embraces Son

After a car accident in Easton, a man rushed to the scene for his son involved in the crash.

A phone call most – if not all – parents never want to receive is one telling them their child has been hurt. Abdur Houston and his wife received just such a phone call last week.

After a car accident in Easton, Houston sped to the scene of the crash to make sure his son was OK, according to The Express-Times. After arriving, he was reunited with his son and bear-hugged his 3-year-old son, caught on camera.

Houston and his wife, Frances, were at home on Jan. 15, when Frances answered the phone and was informed their son had been involved in a car accident, according to The Express-Times. The two parents sped out of their house and to the scene. “I pulled out of the parking spot of my house like a bat out of hell,” Houston said to The Express-Times.

On their way to the crash scene, Houston saw the wreckage and commotion and ditched his car and ran toward the police tape, The Express-Times said.

“When I saw cars all over, I thought, ‘Oh, no.’ I started thinking the worst and just ran up there,” Houston said to The Express-Times. “Honestly, I was running up to there and I was crying because I saw the mayhem that the accident caused. I was in shock.”

The Express-Times reported that Houston was allowed past the police tape at the scene and got his son from the school bus involved in the crash.

“Once I got a hold of him, I took him and just hugged him,” said Houston said to The Express-Times. “I was just happy that he was OK and the other kids were OK.”

This moment was captured by photographer Tim Wynkoop, The Express-Times said.

The Houstons’ son and the other children on the bus were OK, but they took him to the hospital as a precaution. Houston and his son then visited the other man, Lou Ferrone, 71, who was seriously injured in the car crash, The Express-Times said.
