When is Trick-or-Treat Night in Emmaus?

Trick-or-Treat Night 2013 in the Borough of Emmaus is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the borough website.

There is no rain date, the website says. 

In 2011, the Emmaus tradition of scheduling trick-or-treat night on a Thursday was questioned by an Boy Scout in the audience at a council meeting in an effort to meet a merit badge requirement. During that particular October meeting Mayor Winfield Iobst issued his annual trick-or-treat night proclamation to schedule the two-hour candy-collecting session.

Iobst told the Scout that trick-or-treat night in Emmaus had been on Thursday for as long as he could remember and Councilman Brent Labenberg said he thought that the Thursday night scheduling of trick-or-treat came from a desire to not have the Halloween-inspired quest for candy interfere with Friday night football games

In 2012, Iobst deviated from the Thursday tradition and scheduled trick-or-treat night for Halloween, which in 2012 fell on Wednesday, Oct. 31. 

Trick-or-treat in Emmaus is back on Thursday for 2013, but this year Halloween (Oct. 31) falls on a Thursday.
