Celebrate Vinyl Record Day at the Hollywood

This weekend the Hollywood on Potomac is bringing you a sexy sci-fi blast from the past and a day dedicated to vinyl records.

As always, the on Potomac Avenue in Dormont has an eclectic lineup this weekend. 

On Saturday, the theater will show "Barbarella," a futuristic sci-fi flick from the 1960s starring Jane Fonda as sexy spacesuit-wearing Barbarella, an intergalactic femme fatale. Barbarella is sent to a distant planet where sin and pleasure are the norm and she must track down and kill the evil Durand-Durand. This movie is based on the French comic of the same name. 

Sunday is all about vinyl records a the Hollywood. In the afternoon there will be vendors of records and record art. Admission is free to go to Vinyl Record Day.

From 2:30 to 4 p.m., "Rhino Resurrected," a movie about re-opening a famous record store in Los Angeles that was directed by Pittsburgh fimmaker Keith Shapiro will be shown for free.

Later in the evening, the movie "Empire Records" will be thrown into the mix.

Watch as the employees of an independent record store fight to save their place from being absorbed by a competing chain store. 

Saturday: "Barbarella" at 7 p.m. and "I Wish" at 9:15 p.m. 

Sunday: Vinyl Record Day from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and "Empire Records" at 7 p.m. and "I Wish" at 9:15 p.m.
