Fort Pitt Tunnel Closures This Weekend

Tunnel restrictions will be in place this weekend as workers replace the tunnel's ceiling.

The inbound lanes of the Fort Pitt Tunnel will close this weekend so ceiling removal work can be completed.

The inbound lanes (eastbound) will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and will remain closed during round-the-clock construction until 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, according to WTAE-Pittsburgh.

PennDOT said signs will be posted alerting drivers of the detour caused by the construction. The detour will require eastbound traffic to form a single lane exiting at the North US 19/Route 51 West End (Exit 69C) ramp before the Fort Pitt Tunnel, according to a news release from the DOT.
