One Killed in Fatal Pittsburgh Car Crash
One person killed after a detached tire strikes a vehicle on Route 28.

One person was killed during a car accident on Route 28 around 11 a.m. after a detached tire crossed the median and struck an on-coming car.
The accident occurred on Route 28 near the Shaler Highland Compound. Police say the tire detached from a trailer being towed by a white Ford F-450, with four male occupants, according to CBS’ KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. The Ford truck was driving inbound south of the Etna interchange when the tire fell off, crossing the median to outbound side and striking the windshield of the victim’s vehicle, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
Police later found the white Ford truck, but it is unclear if anyone will face charges, KDKA-TV reports.

Access to outbound Route 28 from the 40th Street Bridge has been closed by Pittsburgh police and is expected to remain closed for several hours during the investigation, the Post Gazette reports. Traffic is being rerouted through Millvale
